PRECEDENTS IN MODERNISM: LE CORBUSIER
ZURICH, SWITZERLANDLe Corbusier is known as one of the pioneers of what is now known as “modern architecture.” Maison de l’Homme, later ranamed the Zurich Pavilion, was one of the last buildings Le Corbusier designed. The building includes a number of “signature” elements found in Le Corbusier’s work, but, it also strays away from some of the usual main components familiar to the designer.
For this study, we look at the building, as we learn about how Le Corbusier experimented with new materials such as steel, rather than the concrete he was known for.
